What You Get Back Depends on the PDF You Upload

Every PDF to PPT converter is limited by what is actually inside the file, and this one is no different. We ran three kinds of PDF through this PDF to PPT converter and opened the results. Three inputs, three very different outputs.

That last row is the one to check before you upload. A scan does not come back as a picture on a slide; it comes back as an empty slide.

Your Slide Size Comes From the PDF Page

This is the part no PDF to PPT converter explains, and it decides whether the result is usable. The slide takes the dimensions of the PDF page, one to one. A deck exported at 16:9 converts to a 13.33 by 7.5 inch widescreen slide, exactly as you would expect. An A4 page is 210 by 297 mm, so it converts to a slide 8.26 by 11.69 inches — portrait, taller than it is wide, with a full page of body text on it.

• Nothing is broken when that happens. It is the only faithful way to place the content. But a portrait slide is not a presentation, so you have two options:
• Open Design, Slide Size, Widescreen to switch the deck to 16:9. PowerPoint will re-flow every element, so plan on re-positioning content on each slide.
• Rebuild the deck from the content instead. If the PDF is a report rather than a deck, this is faster than fixing the layout of every slide.

How to Convert PDF to PPT in Three Steps

Check the Conversion in 30 Seconds

Open the .pptx and run these four checks before you start editing anything. They tell you what a PDF to PowerPoint conversion actually produced.

1. Click a paragraph. A text box outline around the words means real, editable text. A slide with nothing selectable means that page had no text layer.
2. Open Home, Select, Selection Pane and count the objects. An empty list is a blank slide, which is what a scanned page produces here.
3. Open View, Outline. Text that appears in the outline is text PowerPoint can search, spell-check and reuse.
4. Open Design and apply a theme. Colours and fonts change, but nothing moves. Most shapes arrive as plain objects at fixed coordinates rather than title and body placeholders, so a theme restyles them without re-arranging them.

That last point is the practical limit of any converter. The file contains a slide master, five layouts and a theme, so it behaves like a normal presentation — but the content sits on top of those layouts instead of inside them.

Four Things That Change When You Convert PDF to PPT

File Limits and What Is Not Supported

• Input .pdf, output .pptx. The .pptx opens in PowerPoint 2016 and later, Google Slides and Keynote.
• Files up to 100 MB, one file per conversion. Free, with no account, no watermark and no cap on how many times you convert PDF to PPT.
• Password-protected PDFs are rejected with a message rather than a silent failure, so a PDF to PowerPoint conversion never half-finishes. Remove the password in the original application, save a copy, then upload that.
• PDFs that block text extraction behave the same way.
• Images are carried across only from pages that also contain text. A page that is nothing but an image converts to an empty slide.
