What to expect

What happens after you ask

Twistly works in the background, so the chat can look quiet for a minute. That’s normal.

0 s

The job is queued

ChatGPT sends your topic, text or file to Twistly and gets a job ID back straight away.

Twistly builds the deck: usually 30–90 s

It writes the slides, lays them out and adds images. ChatGPT checks the job status while it runs. Long decks and big files take longer.

A download link appears in the chat

The link is permanent. Open the .pptx in PowerPoint on Windows, Mac or the web, or in Google Slides.

?

Gone quiet? Ask “Is my deck ready?”

ChatGPT checks the same job again for free. Don’t ask for the deck again: that starts a second job and uses another 20 credits on the Free and Starter plans.

Security

What Twistly sees, and what it doesn’t

You approve access once, with OAuth. You can take it back at any time.

Only the request

Twistly receives what ChatGPT sends in the request: your topic, text or file, your settings and the email you signed in with. Never the rest of the conversation.

Two permissions

Create presentations, and read the status of the ones it created. No password or API key passes through ChatGPT.

Links open for anyone who has them

Download links don’t ask for a login, so share them the way you would share the file itself.

OpenAI’s side

ChatGPT’s own settings apply to the chat. On personal plans OpenAI may use data from plugins to train models if “Improve the model for everyone” is on.

Disconnect

In ChatGPT, open Settings → Plugins → Twistly, then ••• → Disconnect. Your decks and download links keep working. Sign-ins also expire on their own after 7 days.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

About Twistly, ChatGPT and your plan.

Yes. Its own @Presentations skill can build slides, and plugins such as Twistly create the file for you. With Twistly the deck is designed on one of 51 templates and arrives as a .pptx link in about a minute.

No. ChatGPT for PowerPoint is OpenAI’s add-in that works inside an open PowerPoint file. Twistly is a separate company, not affiliated with OpenAI. Our own PowerPoint add-in is listed on AppSource as GPT for PowerPoint.

Twistly works on its own free plan. Whether you can add plugins depends on your ChatGPT plan, your region and, in a work account, your admin.

No. Twistly is billed separately. You get 3 free decks, then a Twistly plan; decks you make in ChatGPT use the same account and balance as the add-in and the web app.

Not from ChatGPT. Ask for a new version, or open the .pptx in PowerPoint and edit it there, by hand or with the Twistly add-in (Redesign, Edit text with AI and Speaker notes are on paid plans).

Not in ChatGPT. Uploaded templates (Pro and Team) work in the Twistly PowerPoint add-in. In ChatGPT, name any of the 51 built-in templates, such as Berlin or Oslo.

Open the .pptx in Google Slides, or run it through our free PPT to Google Slides converter.

Your first 3 decks are free

No card. Connect Twistly to ChatGPT, or make a deck on the web right now.

Troubleshooting

If something goes wrong

Most likely first.

The deck is probably still being built. Ask “Is my deck ready?” and ChatGPT checks the same job. Asking for the deck again starts a new job and costs another 20 credits on Free and Starter.

Check that it’s connected in Settings → Plugins, then start a new chat. If the Plugins page says “Not available on your plan” or “Disabled by admin”, your plan, region or workspace blocks it. In a Business or Enterprise workspace, an admin enables Twistly under Workspace settings → Plugins.

Sign-ins last 7 days. Select Reconnect when ChatGPT asks. If you closed the sign-in window before it finished, disconnect Twistly and connect it again.

Free and Starter decks use 20 credits each. Upgrade to keep going; nothing was generated or charged for that request. On Pro and Team the equivalent message is the 100-decks-a-day limit, which resets.

The connection belongs to the email you signed in with. Disconnect, then connect again with the email your Twistly plan is on.

Twistly accepts PDF, PPTX, DOCX and TXT up to 100 MB, and checks the file’s content, not just the extension. Attach it in the chat rather than pasting a link, and re-export the file if it still fails.
